OPEN HOUSE DAYS EVENTS:  FRIDAY: August 23, 2019

Rules of Engagement: We remind you we do not own the buildings, many are under surveillance. If you break in and get caught, you’re on your own. Do not race each other on the flight line, the Limestone PD do police it and will ticket you. Please respect all areas, and understand we are given the right to do these and go through a lot to get them. The area from the Rendezvous till you go to the old MMA sight on the right—That whole side is now owned by the Micmac tribe it is trespassing. Other off limit areas are the DFAS Building and area, and Loring Job Corp. They have students there and both falls under federal property.

OPEN THE MUSEUM UP AT 12 NOON-soft opening:  Welcome to all guests and visitors. We invite you to sit around and chat, make new friends, purchase items for sale, and thumb through some of the many books made over the years of things from Loring and people from Loring. Please do not take any books outside the museum.

4PM-8pm Book Signing with John Garbinski Author of North River Depot:

All proceeds will go to the Loring Military Heritage Center. This novel tells the story of the "Silent Peacekeepers". Men sworn to secrecy, during the most dangerous period in the History of the United States. North River Depot is a must read for anyone interested in the history of Nuclear Weapons and the Cold War. This book was originally published in 2005. In 2007 a second edition was published with minor changes. This third and final edition (2011) has been completely revised with the addition of several new photographs.


5PM OFFICIAL OPENING: MEMBERS OF THE CENTER WILL DISPLAY THE FLAGS AND SALUTE THE AMERICAN FLAG. A BRIEF STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT RAY HILDEBRAND TO WELCOME YOU ALL.

Center opens for the day: Posting of the Colors by Loring Job Corp.

8am Center Store opens: Sale items do not include displays. Please be mindful of this. On sale will be the only patch that represents this event. Limited quantity to 2 per person.


8am U.S. Air Force Recruiters: On site with us all day. Stop in and say hi!

8am Loring Wildlife Refuge: Opens to the public. Be mindful of wildlife.

8am Veterans: Aroostook Veterans Alliance on site

8am: Limestone Rotary and Grand Falls Rotary on site.

8am Calvin’s Creations wood products made locally

8am: Crafty Gram Studio on site with Military related items.

8am Great North Woods Herb and Botanicals will be on site. 

8am American Legion Post 15 will be on hand to sell mugs and hats. 


830-915 am Small Airplane Group: Will be landing between 8-9am. Keep the runway clear please. They will be parked by the old alert facility at the far end of the runway. Drop in and see them. 12-15 Aircraft and smoke show.

930am Flag Folding: The flag from the last day of Loring taken down on 30 Sept 1994 at the West Gate will be folded and officially sealed. Come see this historic site. 


9am Loring Tours: LMHC to Weapons Storage area via the Trolley. Guided by a Loring Veteran, Meet near the mailbox. 32 Seats per Trolley. By donation for ride and water


9am Loring Base Tours: Base, Flight line, Arch Hanger, DC Hanger, Housing, Fire Dept, and more. Bus, meet near the mailbox as well. 23 seats per ride. By donation for ride and water


10am BBQ Opens: This BBQ will be hosted thanks to the Limestone Masonic Lodge. All proceeds go to their worthwhile causes. Please support their endeavors.


10am Maine Forest Service will land a helicopter in the former post office, Will be coned off


10am Northern Maine Brew Pub: will be on site serving Adult Beverages 


10am Official Ribbon Cutting of the Loring AFB K9 Cemetery.Located Across from Georgia road, and Weinman Road. Not acquainted with that address if you know where the NCO club is your close, across the street from the side of it.


11a-12p Speaker  1: Mr. Peter Noddin will be speaking on a Loring crash. Peter is an expert in crash archeology and research. Bunker Inn 17 Virginia 


11am Special Presentation: This presentation is to a fellow Loring Veteran

1130am Presentation by Ron Craft Author of Hell over High Water. 


12pm Noon: Squadron Pictures near Moose is Loose sign. Sign up your squadron and tell all your folks. This will be scheduled, if you miss, no makeup.


1230 to 130pm. Speaker Mr. Ron Craft, author Hell over High Water will speak at the Bunker Inn about his upcoming book and his experience. 17 Virginia Place. 


1pm Dog Demonstration: Thanks to the Customs and Border Patrol they will be working with us on this to make this happen. 


3pm Water drop demonstration by Maine Warden Service on the flight line


3pm Presentation of Todays Flag: Sign up for a flag flown at Loring and remarks about a special event to happen in September here at the Center.

We will have this wonderful great bird back on our soil here at Loring. This is something you will not want to miss out on. 


To be safe I have just told everyone that it is best to be here for sure on Saturday. 


This Buff is coming right from the 69th that is still in existence today. Minot has agreed to fly this amazing airplane into our area and set her down. 


Do not miss out on this one! More will come as we get closer!
